SPICY DOP “MEJILLÓN DE GALICIA” MUSSELS
Following tradition, the DOP “Mejillón de Galicia” mussels grow in bateas –or floating nursery rafts–, spread across the Galician loughs. After several months feeding on phytoplankton of excellent quality, the mollusks reach the appropriate size, and only then are they gathered for the manufacture of our canned seafood products.
These mollusks have a high nutritional value and offer multiple benefits to our health. Besides, they offer an intense color, a delicate texture, and a strong flavor that, at Palacio de Oriente, we want to enhance with our spicy sauce inspired by the Mexican recipe.
Canned DOP “Mejillón de Galicia” mussels in Mexican spicy sauce
After an exhaustive cleaning, the bivalves are steam-cooked, the byssus and the shells are removed, and they undergo a dehydration process that eliminates the excess water.
Once they are carefully placed in the can, the DOP “Mejillón de Galicia” mussels are covered with a tasty sauce made with tomato, onion, vinegar and chilies.
The DOP “Mejillón de Galicia” mussels in Mexican spicy sauce can be eaten directly from the can with a slice of bread, or as an ingredient in a Mexican taco, in any case, they are a culinary treat that encourages you to travel the world.
